Monday Photo Shoot #34: Any Old Junk

Let's make this quick and easy:

New Monday Photo Shoot #34: Show us just any old junk - and I mean that literally. Photograph something you've been meaning to throw away, give away, or sell off, cheap.

Today, after weeks and months of our threatening to do it, John and I made the the Museum of the Weird a little less weird, but a lot more navigable. We packed up some stuff from the living room and alcove into my car:

old cookbooks (regional, mostly) and a gold sequined tank top

A not-quite-nice midcentury clock and a fabric-covered phone

Who still watches stuff on VHS?

Finally disposed of: disposable plastic cups

Before getting rid of the cups we went through and made sure we kept two of each style of Tucson Toros cup (beer and soda) from each season of the mid 1990s. I also insisted on keeping cups for Roger Rabbit, Max Headroom and Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame. But we agreed not to keep spring training and Diamondbacks and Sidewinders cups, even though a few are old and possibly collectible. Well, anyway, we collected them, for a while! Also dumped: cups for Batman Returns and The Hulk.

John expressed bemusement that we both find getting rid of junk stressful, even when we agree it's something we no longer want to own. Considering how often we've disagreed about which items belong in the categories 1. must keep, 2. must sell, 3. must give away or 4. must trash/recycle, this admission made me love him even more.

This is where the stuff went. Drive-through service, even! Then I came home and took the dogs to the dog park.

Your turn! Show me some junk! Put the photo or photos in your blog or journal with a link back here, and don't forget to leave a link to your entry in the comments below. I'll be back in a week to show off your junk - assuming anyone but me admits to having any (she grumped)!

I have to warn you - there's a good chance I won't continue to run this meme more than a few weeks longer. Stay tuned for further announcements.

Karen

junk? this is a bit difficult to find in my house, as they got thrown out/giveaway as soon as I don't use it anymore. Let me see what I can still find.....be right back!
