A Song for a Princess

A weird thing happened last night in Chapter Five of Heirs of Mâvarin. On page 112 of my single-spaced printout, my "tricky old man" mage character, Fayubi, sings a song called Sleepy Moon to Crel. On page 214 of hm05.doc, however, at the same exact point in the novel, he instead sings a song called My Princess, about a doting father who is ordered around by his young daughter. It ends like this:

Yet if the Princess I adore
Said, “I don’t need you any more,”
My greatest joy would then depart.
Oh! Let her gently rule my heart!”

Now, I like this song. It works thematically and in terms of character, and serves a couple of dramatic purposes. Furthermore, it replaces Sleepy Moon, which really ought to appear only in Mages of Mâvarin, not Heirs.

The thing is, though, that I have no memory of writing My Princess.

Perhaps Fayubi wrote it for me?
