EMPS: How to Tell It's Autumn in Tucson

For the Ellipsis Monday Photo Shoot, literally at the last minute (again):

How do you know it's autumn in Tucson?

Daytime temperatures plummet into the 90s.

Or not.

The Palo Verde trees are still in bloom (ah-choo!).

And so are the flowers.

"Pumpkin Anything" starts to return to stores and restaurants. (Yum!)

Sunset comes earlier.

Really, though, one sure way to tell, at least for me, is the arrival of Michaelmas, the annual feast of St. Michael the Archangel. My church, St. Michael and All Angels, always celebrates the "patronal feast" of Michaelmas at the end of September. And next week? It will be the Feast of St. Francis, or, as I like to call it, "Take your dog to church day!" A sure sign of fall in Tucson!

Hi Karen

We love pumpking anything as well! YUM is right. 102? It has been in the high 80's the last couple days and I am about ready to melt... how oh how do you live there?

The sunset photograph has a great panorama of silhouettes that includes a street light that seems to me to announce it will replace the dying sun.
I really like this photograph.

I really like the pictures you have used to show us what autumn is like in Tucson. I wouldn't be able to stand the heat but the sunset is spectacular and the trees and flowers are pretty. Good job!
